Anna will SpinVox Blog her Beijing diary.

London - SpinVox, the global leader in Voice-to-Screen messaging, is delighted to announce that World Champion marathon canoeist, Anna Hemmings has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Beijing Olympics. Anna, who was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in April 2003 and told she would never compete again, will race alongside Jess Walker in the K2 500m event.

Today’s announcement is the latest chapter in a fairytale story for the 31 year-old, who underwent Reverse Therapy to overcome her condition after almost two years out of the water. After returning to training in February 2005, Anna went on to be crowned Double National Champion in the women’s K1 (singles) and women’s K2 (doubles) events, Women’s K1 World champion and Current European Champion (crowned in 2006, event held every two years).

In December 2007, Anna was also named BBC London Sports Personality of Year.

"This acts as a testament to the grit, sheer determination and hard work that she has put in over the years," said Christina Domecq, co-founder and CEO, SpinVox. "We’re proud to sponsor Anna because she reflects the values and culture of the SpinVox brand - always striving to be the best and achieve success on the world stage."

"Anna is a terrific role model, as she demonstrates how self belief really can overcome adversity. As Anna prepares for the most difficult race of her life, she can count on SpinVox support every step of the way," added Domecq.

Anna will be using just her voice, mobile phone and SpinVox Blog to maintain a live blog from Beijing to ensure that supporters worldwide remain up to date with her progress at the Olympics. www.annahemmings.livejournal.com

Speaking on her blog today, Anna said: "I'm really excited because after the painful 300m session yesterday, I received the exciting news that we finally have confirmation of our Olympic place! It has been a long and anxious wait since we raced in Milan but it has been worth the wait."

"Jess and I will go to the Olympics to compete in the K2 500m. It will be Jess's first Olympic Games and my second. We leave for Beijing with some other members of the GB team on the 6th August. It’s the world's most spectacular sporting event and I can't wait!"
